BILL
TO
Establish the Oakridge Police Department, outline what deputies are, and increase policing in Oakridge

The citizens of Oakridge, through their elected Representatives in the Town-Council and the force of law ordained to that Town-Council by the people through the constitution of Oakridge, do hereby enact the following provisions into the by-laws:

1)-Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the "Deputy/Sheriff Act [Revised]"
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage
(3) This Act has been authored by Councillor Towloo
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by Councillor Yeet_Boy

2)-Reasons
(1) The sheriff deserves to appoint his/her's own deputies
(2) There is currently minimal policing in Oakridge

3)-Amendment To Section II of the Oakridge Constitution

Add:

c) Oakridge Police Department
The Oakridge Police Department is charged with the following responsibilities:
(1) Maintaining the peace and good order of the Town of Oakridge, through lawfully exercising its power equally to enforce the laws of the Town of Oakridge
(2) Providing security to Oakridge government officials and events
(3) Maintaining criminal records for local crimes within Oakridge
(4) Providing criminal records upon request (the requesting individual must be party to the record requested, or be a court ordered request) within 7 days.

Leadership:
(1) Sheriff

4)-Employment of Deputies
(1) A Deputy Sheriff (deputy) is an employee of the Oakridge Police Department, who is appointed at the discretion of the Sheriff or Acting Sheriff
(a) All deputies must be a current police officer or higher rank within the Department of Homeland Security to be appointed
(2) Deputies are allowed to quit without notice
(3) Deputies are to remain deputies when a new sheriff is elected
(a) Clarification: The clause above is meant to clarify that deputies are not appointed by a sheriff each term, and the new sheriff still has the power outlined above

5)-Duties of Deputies
(1) The following are a deputy's duties:
(a) Enforcing all local laws of Oakridge within the Town's borders
(b) Attending all Oakridge government events to provide security, if possible
(2) Deputy failure to complete the above duties will result in a verbal warning, and if failure happens over five times within a single month, they are to be removed and cannot be appointed again.
