3. In your own words, please explain the role of a Public Defender. The role of a public defender is to provide a strong defense in the pursuit of representing an individual or individuals who cannot normally afford a private attorney in criminal or civil cases.
4. What motivated you to pursue a career as a Public Defender? As someone who has a strong interest in law and ensuring that there's a strong defense given for every person, if everyone is equal under the law, then we must ensure that every person has the best possible representation in our courts. As a new attorney, I think this would be a great opportunity to gain experience.
5. Why do you think you are a good fit for the position of Public Defender? I think that my determination and legal acumen would be well suited for this position. I think that my understanding of where a potential client might be coming from also helps.
6. What legal experience do you have in-game? Nothing yet, I'm hoping that if I can get a position here that I could gain experience. Unfortunately, the private sector seems to have few jobs right now.
7. List and explain 1-3 of your strengths and 1-3 weaknesses. My strengths are that I'm determined, detailed oriented, and intelligible. My weaknesses are that I can be zealous, overburden myself, and be overly confident.

I want to help those people who cannot afford a lawyer. Being a public defender is an important job, one that is necessary, but one that is often overlooked

4. What motivated you to pursue a career as a Public Defender? - I've noticed the Commonwealth being more active in the legal field, and I believe the kind of people who need a public defender, deserve one willing to fight as hard as the prosecution will be.
5. Why do you think you are a good fit for the position of Public Defender? - I'm a creative sort and I have a decent eye for detail. I pick up on details that go amiss on occasion, and I really enjoy the work.
6. What legal experience do you have in-game? - I have been apart of 3 cases in the courts of Redmont when I was employed by TitanLaw one of which being a class-action, written a few contracts, and assisted in an Expungement Request.

   This case while it didn't move forward, I do think highlights my knowledge of court procedure and ability to file and do research. While there was much work done in the background a lot didn't see the light of the court, and I'm still happy with the result.

   I list this here as my worst case to highlight a few mistakes I think I made.
   
   I didn't effectively communicate with other council outside of court. While I still don't think I am under any obligation to do so, and that defense should've provided their answer regardless, I don't think it was an effective means in the short or long term.
   
   I didn't ask for an extension early on, this lead to a rushed opening which lead to a misreading of a Verdict that I had used to make a point.
   
   While I have noted all the things I think went wrong in this case, I will highlight that it was a great learning experience that I believe I grew from, and despite that I still produced an easy to follow case and followed court procedure.

3. In your own words, please explain the role of a Public Defender.
   The role of a Public Defender is to represent those in court who otherwise would not have been represented, for example due to a lack of financial means. In doing so Public Defenders protect the ninth right of our constitution, by ensuring that all people have the assistance of legally qualified counsel for their defense in court.
   
   
4. What motivated you to pursue a career as a Public Defender?
   It is important to me that everyone, regardless of their financial or social position in society, gets a fair trial and an honest chance at defending themselves if they are sued. The Public Defender Program is of utmost importance in this regard. Recently I have felt that in some cases there were people who did not get the representation that they would have deserved from their Public Defender. The best way to fix something that you think should be fixed is by doing whatever is in your power to help fix the problem and therefore I decided to pursue a career as a Public Defender. I hope that by joining the Public Defender Program I can help make a step in the right direction towards ensuring that there are enough Public Defenders and that all those who qualify get the defense they deserve.
   
   
5. Why do you think you are a good fit for the position of Public Defender?
   As a newer but very motivated and hardworking Attorney, who sees a lot of value in ensuring that everyone gets solid legal assistance when they are sued, I would be a great fit for the position of Public Defender. I am diligent and precise which will reflect positively in my work. I also have an eye for detail which I will be able to use to scrutinize the claims brought forward towards the people I would be representing. I do not give up easily, and will always try to defend cases to the best of my abilities, regardless of whether or not the initial outlook is good or bad.
   
   
6. What legal experience do you have in-game?
   I acknowledge that only looking at my forum posts so far would make it seem like I have a lack of experience in the field of law, and it is true that I am relatively new to this community. However, first looks can be deceiving.
   
   In my time here I have been very involved within the legal community. I have also done extensive research into our laws and legal system. These things combined have managed to give me a good understanding of the laws of Redmont, as you might be able to see in the frequent conversations I have regarding legal and legislative affairs within the Discord, as well as by the fact that I have contributed to a recently proposed draft for a bill regarding our sector.
   
   I started my professional career in law at Dragon Law as a Paralegal, and I currently work there as an Associate. My education and experience within Dragon Law, both in my former and current position have given me the foundation needed to be a successful lawyer, and the knowledge and skills needed to represent parties in court and craft solid legal arguments.
   
   
7. List and explain 1-3 of your strengths and 1-3 weaknesses.
   My biggest strengths in this position would be my strong ability to do legal research, my intense motivation to always do the best I can, and my ability to communicate respectfully and clearly.
   
   My biggest weakness in this position would be my lack of experience within court cases, this might cause me to need to spend more time on certain cases than other, more experienced lawyers, would.

3. In your own words, please explain the role of a Public Defender. A public defender is a state provided legal counsel. If someone is the defendant in a criminal trial and they are unable to properly afford legal counsel or don't have the time to seek counsel, they are appointed a public defender. The public defender is a state employee that represents defendants in criminal proceedings.
4. What motivated you to pursue a career as a Public Defender? I specifically chose the public defender route so that I can help the individuals who are less fortunate. I would like to be able to work for a state organization as opposed to a private firm that stands to gain profit. I believe that to work without profit from a client, an individual can be more invested in the case. Public defenders do not chase profit. 5. Why do you think you are a good fit for the position of Public Defender? I am an honest and capable person. I have a lot of good experience in the criminal law/legal proceedings world. Most in game but some in real life as well. I am a dedicated individual. I currently have no other obligations in DC and this is my only RP game that I am currently playing. I have plenty of time on my hands to learn more about the legal system here and be a valued asset to the PD office. Whether I initially start as a PD or just assisting a PD, I would be happy to help however I can. I believe some people in positions here don't really value their position and they let it fall by the wayside. I will not do this. If I hold this position, I will use it for the good I can do with it and maximize my value to the office.
6. What legal experience do you have in-game? I have no experience in DC other than some studying of the laws here. However, I was in nUSA Roblox, which is a USA group of about 200,000 members. I served in many positions such as a US Attorney, a private defense lawyer and served as an Assistant Attorney General within that group.
7. List and explain 1-3 of your strengths and 1-3 weaknesses. Strengths - My greatest strength is my dedication. Once I set my mind to something I will excel in that thing and put all of my available time and effort into it. Another strength is resilience. I can take any issue on the head and move forward and learn from it. If I lose a case, I will review how I could do better and win the next one. My third strength is my lack of ego. I am not an egotistical person. This allows me to be wrong and accept that I am wrong. I am willing to change my mistakes and do better in the future. If the director comes to me and says I've made a mistake, I am happy to accept it and be wrong and move forward and do better. I believe this is invaluable in a game like this, where egos are high. One weakness of mine is my lack of DC experience, I am newer to this server so some things I am still learning. However, I have spent a lot of time in game and on forums studying different things and learning about the server and its function. Another weakness I have is that I am at times a perfectionist. I love to win cases. If I don't win I will be a little salty for a few minutes. However, I have made this more toward a strength, as I use my eagerness to be successful to fuel my success in the next case. Another is that I am self-critical. Nobody will critique me more than me. If I do something wrong, I will hold myself accountable to the highest standard. However, I use this to benefit me and do better the next time.
