Case Filing

IN THE FEDERAL COURT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
CIVIL ACTION

AlexanderLove
Plaintiff

v.

The Commonwealth of Redmont
Defendant

COMPLAINT
The Plaintiff complains against the Defendant as follows:

The legal profession was unjustly discriminated against by recent legislation that revoked all licenses and then forced lawyers to pay to get them back again. This is nothing short of ransom, using several lawyers' livelihood as the hostage.

I. PARTIES
1. AlexanderLove (Plaintiff)
2. The Commonwealth of Redmont (Defendant)

II. FACTS
1. On March 3rd, 2025, President 1950minecrafter signed the Modern Legal Reform Act into law, stripping all lawyers of their previous legal credentials and placing them at solicitor status.
2. Lawyers without the correct barrister and attorney credentials cannot practice in the Federal and Supreme Courts, respectively, losing out on streams of income.
3. Lawyers had to take six barrister exams ($75 each) and an attorney exam ($200 per attempt) at their expense to regain the right to practice in these Courts.

III. CLAIMS FOR RELIEF
1. The Constitution grants the right to "life, liberty, and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof". Security of the person includes means of income, such as practicing law, which was revoked without compensation by the legislation in controversy. Forcing everyone to pay again just to regain a credential they already held is against this liberty. Essentially, this adds a cost-prohibitive barrier to the legal field even for lawyers who have already earned their credentials. The Commonwealth effectively revoked legal credentials without just cause AND forced them to pay to get their credentials back.
2. A case with a very similar fact pattern and outcome (tekkovvs v. The Commonwealth of Redmont) came to the ruling that liberty and security of the person does indeed apply to the practice of law, and that one's legal credentials may not be stripped against due process. The Commonwealth not only took credentials from practicing lawyers who rely on this work to sustain their income, but it forced them to cough up even more money just to regain something they already had. Let us examine the verdict: "possession of a law license for a Lawyer would certainly be an essential part of pursuing Life, Liberty, and Security of the Person as it provides their entire means to practice their line of work (liberty) and earn a living (life and security); because of this, a person of the Judiciary needs to handle such cases. The Court considered that they can get a living without the license by doing another job, but this is taking away the liberty and taking away their living in the legal field."
3. Holding law licenses for ransom and making lawyers pay again to get their licenses back is undue discrimination against the legal profession that other professions do not have to endure. Therefore, the Commonwealth violated right 13 of the Constitution: "Every citizen is equal before and under the law and has the right to equal protection and equal benefit of the law without unfair discrimination and, in particular, without unfair discrimination based on political belief or social status." Being a lawyer is a form of social status.

IV. PRAYER FOR RELIEF
The Plaintiff seeks the following from the Defendant:
1. $1,150 in compensatory damages for having to retake 6 * $75 barrister exams and 3 * $200 attorney exams illegally, when I already had an attorney credential prior to the legislation.
2. $5,000 in consequential damages for the loss of enjoyment in Redmont as I had to endure retaking seven exams AND coughing up the money to pay for them OR ELSE not be allowed to legally enjoy practicing law in Redmont as I have for several years.
3. $10,000 in punitive damages for illegally revoking my barrister certification without due process and infringing upon two of my Constitutional rights.
4. $15,000 in punitive damages for illegally revoking my attorney certification without due process and infringing upon two of my Constitutional rights.
5. A public apology from the Commonwealth of Redmont for their harm to lawyers without due process or just compensation.
6. $9,345 in legal fees as that is 30% of the value of this case.
