To Establish Community Service

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the "Community Service Program Act."
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

2 - Purpose
The purpose of this Act is to establish a community service program within the Commonwealth of Redmont, which can be ordered by both District and Federal courts, and to designate the Department of Justice (DOJ) as the managing authority responsible for overseeing and coordinating the program.

3 - Definitions
(1) "Community Service" refers to unpaid work or services performed by individuals for the benefit of the community or public good.

4 - Establishment of the Community Service Program
(1) A Community Service Program shall be established within the Commonwealth of Redmont.
(2) The program shall provide opportunities for individuals who have been sentenced by District or Federal courts to serve community service as part of their sentence.
(3) The Community Service Act is hereby rescinded.

5 - Duties of the Department of Justice
(1) The DOJ shall be responsible for managing and administering the Community Service Program.
(2) The DOJ shall develop guidelines and procedures for the assignment, supervision, and evaluation of community service activities.
(3) The DOJ shall establish partnerships with local organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies to identify suitable community service projects.
(4) The DOJ shall maintain records of individuals participating in the program, including hours served and completion status.

6 - Court-Ordered Community Service
(1) District and Federal courts shall have the authority to order community service as a part of a sentence or as an alternative to incarceration for eligible offenses.
(2) The court shall determine the number of community service hours and the timeframe within which the service must be completed.
(3) The court shall consider the nature of the offense, the individual's circumstances, and the needs of the community when assigning community service.

7 - Reporting and Compliance
(1) Individuals assigned to community service shall be required to report to the designated DOJ office or assigned supervisor for instructions and scheduling.
(2) The DOJ shall ensure proper monitoring and supervision of individuals serving community service.
(3) Failure to comply with the assigned community service requirements may result in appropriate consequences, including additional community service hours or other penalties as determined by the court.

8 - Evaluation and Recognition
(2) The DOJ may establish a recognition document to acknowledge individuals who have successfully completed their community service obligations.

9 - Funding
(1) The necessary funding for the implementation and administration of the Community Service Program shall be allocated from the general budget of the Commonwealth of Redmont, subject to availability.

10 - Severability
If any provision of this Act or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the Act or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected.

Presidential Assent

This bill has been granted assent and is hereby signed into law.
