BILL
To

Decriminalize Drug Possession

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Drug Trafficking and Possession Legalization Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Authored by Representative 218218Consumer.

2 - Reasons for Proposal
Drug illegality makes sense only in the context of roleplay: without roleplay, anti-drug laws would be a pointless inhibition of player freedoms. However, even in the context of roleplay, there is no sense in dehumanizing drug users for their addiction. Instead, we must punish solely those who worsen their plight, the dealers.

3 - Terms
(1) The existing law on drug possession shall be repealed.
(2) A new crime, “Drug Trafficking”, shall be defined as “Trafficking of illicit substances.”, implemented under Miscellaneous Laws.
(3) The punishment of Drug Trafficking shall be as follows:
(a First Offense: 5 minutes jail + $150 fine
(b) Second Offense: 10 minutes jail + $300 fine
(c) Third and Subsequent Offenses: 20 minutes jail + $500 fine
