Ensure transparency in #news​

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be referred to as the Journalistic Transparency Act.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by Rep. RylandW.
(4) This Act has been cosponsored by Rep. MissAndrist.

2 - Reasons
(1) News article readers are entitled to know who is creating and publishing the media which they are reading.
(2) News reporting has significant influence over public opinion, and transparency is crucial to ensuring reliability and truthfulness in news.

3 - Terms
(1) The Department of Public Affairs shall be tasked with maintaining a public list of active news agencies with access to post in #news, including the full name of the organisation and the owner(s) of the organisation.
(2) News articles must disclose in-article their authors or, if the author(s) wish to remain anonymous, the author shall be listed as "Anonymous".
(3) News articles must contain an in-article disclaimer if any payment or compensation was received in return for writing/publishing the article, which must disclose who or what organisation sponsored the article and the amount of payment or compensation received.
(4) Failure to comply with this Act shall result in the removal of the news outlet from #news.
