v.
Vortex
Defendant

COMPLAINT
The Plaintiff complains against the Defendant as follows:
On the 28th of March, MegaMinerM was looking for a casino to gamble his money, he found an advertisement for Vortex, advertising themselves as a Casino, so he went to c530 and gambled on the $50, $250, and $1000 machines. After he was done, he decided to sell out, but he found that he can only sell his winnings from the $50 and $250 machines, and that you could only buy the $1000 tokens. At that point, MegaMinerM had 6 $1000 tokens, amounting to $6000, which he couldn't redeem. The same day he made a post in the advertisement pointing out that Vortex doesn't have a sell shop for the $1000 tokens, after he had no reply for several days he sent another message on the 2nd of April, as well as privately messaged the owner of the region of the casino and poster of the advertisement PenguingReal, who replied with "tough luck brotha i am not the owner anymore". IN THE FEDERAL COURT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
WRIT OF SUMMONS

@PenguingReal is required to appear before the court in the case of the MegaMinerM v. Vortex [2024] FCR 90. Failure to appear within 72 hours of this summons will result in a default judgment based on the known facts of this case.

I'd also like to remind both parties to be aware of the Court Rules and Procedures, including the option of an in-game trial should both parties request one.

@PenguingReal is hereby charged with 1 count of Contempt of Court, and the DHS is to fine/jail them appropriately.

Recognizing that the Defendant is not a citizen - rather a business - the Defense is not entitled to a Public Defender.

This case is in recess pending a default judgement.

(For clarity, the Contempt charge is due to not appearing when summoned)

Verdict

IN THE FEDERAL COURT OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF REDMONT
VERDICT
MegaMinerM v. Vortex [2024] FCR 90

I. PLAINTIFF'S POSITION
1. The Plaintiff gambled at Vortex and won $6,000
2. The chest shops were not set up properly, and the Plaintiff was unable to redeem their winnings.
3. The casino owner refused to help the Plaintiff redeem their winnings.
4. This warrants Compensatory Damages (for unredeemed winnings), Consequential Damages (financial stress), Punitive Damages (for stopping the Plaintiff from using their rightfully earned money), Loss of Enjoyment damages, and Legal Fees.

II. DEFENDANT'S POSITION
1. The Defendant failed to appear before the court.

III. THE COURT OPINION
1. Casinos are offering a contract when they offer a chance to win money in exchange for money.
2. When buying from a casino machine, the offer is accepted, forming a legally binding contract.
3. Thus, the Plaintiff is entitled to their winnings.
4. The Plaintiff failed to show evidence that they were under serious financial stress nor did they show evidence they were unable to enjoy activities in Redmont they previously could due to Vortex's actions (or in this case, inaction).
5. Some punitive damages (1/3 of actual losses) are reasonable to deter casinos and similar entities from disobeying their agreements with their customers.

IV. DECISION
The Federal Court hereby rules in favor of the Plaintiff, and will be granting a modified Prayer for Relief:
- $6,000 in compensatory damages
- $2,000 in punitive damages
- $800 in Legal Fees (10% of case value because the Plaintiff represented themself and did not have an "entire" case).

Total: The Court orders the DHS (or DoC, if necessary) to transfer $8,800 from Vortex to the Plaintiff.

The Federal Court thanks all involved.
