Ensure Police Accountability​

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Police Accountability Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

2 – Reasons
(1) As it currently stands many Police Officers do not announce why someone was arrested. Most of the time this is merely shady and does not constitute misconduct, but it opens the door to arresting citizens without justification.
(2) Beyond that, many citizens break the law without even realizing it. If our jailed citizens are unaware of what law they broke they are likely to reoffend and receive a greater punishment, discouraging new players from the server.

3 – Terms
(1) Whenever a Police Officer makes an arrest, they must put the reason for arrest in global chat.
(2) The reason for arrest must cite a specific law broken, it may not simply be “Breaking the Law”.

(1) Whenever a Police Officer makes an arrest, they must put the reason for arrest in global chat. - This is fine, I agree that POs should make it known the basis for arrest.

This bill was vetoed over a plugin limitation:

(2) The reason for arrest must cite a specific law broken, it may not simply be “Breaking the Law”. - The current configuration of the plugin is that the police officer hits an individual player with a jail stick to jail them. There is no room to specify a reason with this process, so there is a blanket reason provided by the use of the stick.
