The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the ‘Police Brutality Prevention Act'.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been authored by: Representative lcn.
(4) This Act has been co-sponsored by: Deputy Speaker zLost.

2 - Reasons
(1) To criminalize and prevent police brutality by means of law.

3- Amendment
(1) The Corruption and Espionage Offenses Act shall be amended as follows:

Add:

(7) Police Brutality
(i) Classification: Indictable Criminal Offense

The act of unwarranted or excessive force against a civilian, through handcuffing, tasing, or any other physical means by a police officer. Tasing a criminal on the run is warranted.
Per Offense: $2500 Fine + 10 Minutes Jail Time

How about:
First Offense: $2500 Fine + 10 Minutes Jail Time + Report to DHS Secretary
Subsequent Offenses: $2500 Fine + 25 Minutes Jail Time + Suspension from the DHS for up to 2 months
 
How about:

Subsequent Offenses: $2500 Fine + 25 Minutes Jail Time + Suspension from the DHS for up to 2 months
But those are way more harsh than murder, it's completely unproportional. Even the original one is way harsher than murder.

Veto

This bill has been vetoed for the following reasons: It imposes unnecessary regulations on our police officers, who already face significant challenges. The vague language in the legislation could also result in negative consequences for the commonwealth.
