Make illegal the act of bribery.
The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives and Senators in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Hugebob Amendment”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) This Act has been co-sponsored by Eastray_.
2 - Reasons
(1) Per the Attorney General, Bribery and Attempted Bribery are not currently illegal.
(2) To promote ethical governance, bribery should be made illegal to discourage it.
3 - Terms
(1) Bribery shall be defined as the act of offering, giving, soliciting, or receiving an item or service of value to influence an individual holding public office or serving in a legal capacity. It shall also encompass the intent to convince voters through the means of bribery in an election.
(1.a) Attempted Bribery shall be defined as an attempt to offer, give, solicit, or receive an item or service to influence an individual holding public office or serving in a legal capacity. It shall also encompass the intent to convince voters through the means of attempted bribery in an election.
(2) The penalty for giving a bribe or attempting to give a bribe shall be:

(2) The penalty for giving a bribe or attempting to give a bribe shall be:
- Up to a $5,000 fine, removal from public office or any legal status, and being barred from public office or legal status for up to 2 months.
