BILL
To
Protect Congress’s Cabinet Approval Power
The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Cabinet Approval Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
2 - Reasons
(1) As it currently stands the President has the power to appoint Acting Secretaries without Congressional approval.
3 - Process
(1) Any person which holds roles functionally equivalent to a department Secretary must be approved by the Congress. This includes “Acting” Secretaries.
(2) During a vacancy in the Secretary position, their duties fall to the Deputy Secretary until a new Secretary can be chosen.
(3) Should both the Secretary and Deputy Secretary be vacant the Secretary’s duties shall fall to theAdvisory Secretary President.
(4) Should the Secretary position be vacant for 7 days, the duties of the Secretary shall fall to no one to encourage nomination.
(5) Any currently existing “Acting” Secretaries as of the date of the passage of this bill may continue to serve.
