- Counsel Name: Solid Law Firm
- Were you originally the plaintiff or the defendant: Plaintiff
- Reason for the Appeal: The Court Opinion is based off of the idea that an amendment to a law was already active in August of 2021, when it was actually passed in August of 2022. Here is the quote from the Court Opinion:
'In August of 2021 the Marriage Act Stated "The players who allow their assets to be taken must say so directly on their marriage registration thread as well as which spouse has access."'
Here is what the Act actually said at the time:
"Should a player declare their intent to leave the server, are inactive for over 3 months, or any other action that may indicate their disappearance, their assets will be legally retained by their spouse."
Here is the Marriage Act: Act of Congress - Marriage Act
As you can see, "A Cool Much-Needed Marriage Act Amendment Act" passed on August 27, 2022 - not August of 2021. It was this amendment that changed the wording from what was mentioned before.
- Additional Information: Link to original case: Lawsuit: Adjourned - Mask3D_WOLF v. oreoenthusiast [2022] DCR 46
