A
BILL
To

Amend the Constitution

The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Pocket Veto Amendment”
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.

2 - Reason
(1) Currently, the President may utilize a silly pocket veto as s maneuver to exercise veto powers over a bill by taking no action, and to avoid any potential veto override.

3 - Amendment
(1) Added to Section 1 “The Congress”:
Once the Congress passes the bill, it is then sent to the President for their approval. If 72 hours pass after the bill is presented to the President or Acting President for assent, the bill automatically receives assent, unless vetoed before the 72 hours have passed or if it is a complex change.”

This bill is hereby vetoed.
Reasoning:
1. 72 Hours is too short of a period for assenting/vetoing bills especially when there are a large amount of bills.
2. After the time period the result should be an automatic veto, not an automatic assent
Suggestions:
1.Increase the time period to 120 hours.
2. After the time period make the default action veto
