A
BILL
To
1 - Short Title and Enactment[/B]
(1) This Act may be cited as the “Reasonable Notice Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) The Act has been co-sponsored by: Hugebob
2 - Reasons
(1) While it was once understood that the concept of immediate evictions should exist to prevent players who are inactive for more than 30 days from logging on, this is no longer an issue due to the Activity Act. The Activity Act requires at least 4 hours of playtime in the month, meaning merely logging on and off wouldn’t work.
(2) The DCT has a history of issuing evictions unbeknownst to the property owner. As the honourable Judge Matt_S0 once called the actions of the DCT to be not within respect to player rights, stating “the lack of notice prior to eviction is distasteful at the least”
(3) Every other government institution provides at least a 48-hour notice to players, such as the Court when summoning a Defendant.
3 - Reasonable Notice
(1) The DCT must provide at least 72 hours notice to the property owner on the forums by filing an eviction report and via mail before evicting an individual.
(2) Note that this removes the current court-ordered requirement of having a mail to be sent 24 hours before an eviction post is made.
