Establish State Enterprises​

The people of Democracy Craft, through their elected Representatives in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:

1 - Short Title and Enactment
(1) This Act may be cited as the “State Enterprise Act”.
(2) This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
(3) Authored by Senator hugebob23456

2 - Reasons
(1) Government-owned companies allow for the Government to interact with the economy without disrupting the free market and, if they turn a profit, will ease the tax burden on the public.

3 - Terms
(1) The Government may, through the regular legislative process, create companies.
(2) The members of the Legislature shall serve as the Board of Directors with the Speaker of the House serving as Chairman of the Board.
(3) The position of CEO shall by default be vacant, unless the Board of Directors approves of another individual to serve as CEO.
(4) There shall be two possible designations for State Enterprises:
(a) Profit: A for-profit State Enterprise exists with the intent to generate revenue and lower the tax burden on the public.
(b) Service: A for-service State Enterprise exists with the intent to provide a service to the public and is not necessarily profitable.
(5) The Government may, through the regular legislative process, purchase an existing company with the consent of the subject company.
(6) The Government may, through the regular legislative process, disband of or sell a State Enterprise to a consenting individual or company.
(7) For-service State Enterprises may receive funding through the Appropriations process.
