BILL
To
Give towns more autonomy in regard to laws
The people of the Commonwealth of Redmont, through their elected Representatives and Senators in the Congress and the force of law ordained to that Congress by the people through the constitution, do hereby enact the following provisions into law:
1 - Short Title and Enactment
- This Act may be cited as the “Town Law Exemption Act.”
- This Act shall be enacted immediately upon its signage.
- This Bill was authored by Representative ElainaThomas29.
- This Bill is cosponsored by Representative Tair0.
2 - Reasons
- Currently towns are forced to follow all laws passed by Congress, giving them no freedoms in what they may choose to do within their towns.
- This Bill aims to give towns more autonomy and decide to exempt themselves from federal law.
- This Bill gives towns more autonomy while not giving them complete freedom to make all laws legal within said town, this Bill allows for checks and balances so law exemption is not abused.
3 - Terms
- If a Mayor feels that a federal law does not represent their town, they may reach out to the Speaker of the House of Representatives and request that their exemption from said law be put up to a vote in Congress.
- The Speaker of the House will put up said law in the House and state that the Mayor of the town has requested that they be considered for exemption from said law.
- Exemption from the law must receive a supermajority (⅔) in both chambers of Congress, and approval from the President.
- When a supermajority (⅔) is reached in both chambers of Congress and receives approval from the president, the town will be considered exempt from the law.
- A thread will be available on the forums for each town to list out federal laws that they are exempt from.
